The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Benneth C. Igweh, has convened a crucial meeting with the Management Team, leaders of all tactical units, and Heads of Departments at the FCT Police Command on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
In a statement, the Command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh said the primary objective of this meeting was to revamp the current security approach and establish a comprehensive plan to ensure the safety of residents within the Federal Capital Territory. CP Igweh emphasized the necessity of intelligence-led policing, urging officers to prioritize visibility through constant stop-and-search duties in their ongoing efforts against criminal activities.
Addressing the attendees, CP Igweh stressed the importance of effective community partnerships and conveyed his zero-tolerance stance towards any form of laxity within the force.
Furthermore, he directed the heads of tactical units to identify and address black spots and potential kidnappers’ dens in the Territory, emphasizing the need to take a proactive approach in combating criminal elements.
One of the significant directives from CP Igweh was the implementation of a total clampdown on vehicles lacking proper registration, specifically those without number plates or equipped with a single number plate, while traversing FCT roads.
CP Benneth C. Igweh, mni, reasserted his commitment to combatting criminal activities within the Territory and called upon residents to actively collaborate with the Police in the fight against crime.
He issued a caution against boarding vehicles along roadsides and using unapproved parks, emphasizing the importance of reporting suspicious activities promptly.
