Farmer docked over alleged disobedience to court judgement

A 43-year old farmer, Adedeji Aribo, was on Friday, arraigned before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, over alleged disobedience to court judgement.

The defendant whose address was not given, is facing a five-count charge of felony, forceful entry, breach of peace, threat to life and disobedience to court judgement.

The Prosecutor, Insp Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that Aribo and others now at large, committed the offence at about 10.a.m on Jan. 1, at Itedo Street, Igbodigo in Okitipupa magisterial district.

Omoyeigha said that the defendant disobeyed a High Court judgement of Sept. 27, 2017 in Suit No: HOK/10/2023 which ordered him not to parade himself as the owner of a disputed piece of land

He further said that the defendant forcefully entered into the piece of land and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.

The prosecutor said that the defendant poured powdery substance believed to be dangerous charm on the land.

He said that the defendant in company of some others, threatened the lives of the complainant, Oluwaseun Olamigoke.

Omoyeigha said that the offences contravened Sections 517, 249 (d), 81, 86 and 133 (9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Ajele granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with three sureties in like sums.

He added that the sureties, who should reside within the court jurisdiction, must should present evidence of two years tax payment to the state government.

Ajele adjourned the case until June 20 for further hearing. (NAN)
