A former Minister of Education, Dauda Birma, is dead. He was aged 79.
He reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday.
His son, Musa Dauda Birma, announced his father’s demise in a Facebook post.
He said in the Facebook post: “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihin rajiun, I lost a part of me that can never be replaced. May Allah swt forgive your sins and grant you janna.”
Born on July 21, 1940 in Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Dauda Birma served in various capacities in the government of the old Northern Region.
Birma, who was the Waziri of Garkida, was a two-time presidential aspirant.
He served as education minister under the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
