Wife of former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, Hadiza, is dead.
The Bayero University Kano announced the development on Sunday.
There has been an outpouring of condolences from associates, academics and political figures on the heels of the tragic development.
In a statement released on its official platforms, the university expressed submission to the will of Allah, confirming that Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega had passed on.
According to the institution, the funeral prayer (Janazah) is scheduled to take place after the Zuhr prayer on Sunday at the National Mosque Abuja, where she will also be laid to rest.
The university offered prayers for the repose of the deceased, asking Allah to grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and forgive her shortcomings, while also urging strength and patience for the bereaved family.
The Director of Public Affairs of the university, Lamara Garba, confirmed the death in a telephone interview, reiterating that the burial would take place in Abuja.
