Ex-Aso Rock chaplain Rev. William Okoye is dead

ACFM founder served as Aso Villa Chapel chaplain under Obasanjo and Jonathan. “A faithful servant of God,” church says

The church has lost one of its quiet pillars.

Rev. William Okoye, Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM) and former Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, has died.

His passing was confirmed in a statement issued Wednesday, July 15, 2026, by Rev. Godwin Tsee on behalf of the Board of Trustees and National Executive Council of ACFM.

Tsee described Okoye as a man who gave his life to service.

*m”He was a faithful servant of God who dedicated his life to the service of humanity,” Tsee said.

Rev. Okoye served as Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel during the administrations of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

During those years at the seat of power, he was known for counselling, prayer and bridging the gap between faith and governance.

He also built ACFM from the ground up, growing it into a mission with a wide Christian following across Nigeria.

Following the news, Tsee urged members of ACFM and the wider Christian community to “remain steadfast in faith, united in love and prayer.”

The mission’s leadership, he said, is already consulting with Okoye’s family on how to honour him.

Details of funeral and burial arrangements will be announced through the official channels of the mission.

Rev. Okoye is survived by children.

For many in government circles and in the pews, his death marks the end of an era of pastoral presence at Aso Rock that spanned two presidencies.
