Etiebet mourns Iwuanyanwu, says he has lost a great friend

A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Chief Don Obot Etiebet, CON, has mourned the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief [Dr] Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, OFR, who died on Thursday, in Abuja, at the age of 82.

Etiebet, in a statement, containing his heartfelt condolences to the family of Iwuanyanwu and indeed the Nigerian public, described him as a great Nigerian who loved his people and Nigeria greatly.

“As one of the richest Nigerians from the eighties, he sacrificed his very lucrative businesses to join politics to fight for the inclusiveness of all Nigerians in the unity and oneness of the country.

“He was in the mould of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Dr Alex Ekweme.

“He had always wanted to get a position to emmancipate his people as he contested for the President of the Country.

“He would later in his life and times become the President-General of the Igbo Cultural organisation, the Ohanaeze Group where he was very active and worked very hard for the release of Nnamdi Kanu till his death.

“We all shall miss him. He was a lovely fellow.

“May his soul rest in peace.
Amen,” Etiebet wrote.
