The Osun State Government has said that the ongoing curfew in the state is necessitated by the need to rid the streets and communities of violence and damage to property till further notice.
According to the Secretary to the state government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, in a public announcement made on Thursday.
According to him, “This, by implication, means that the State Government has not approved the movement of people at any time of the day within the period of the curfew.”
The state government said that the curfew was not a punitive measure; but that rather, it was to keep the streets safe, keep the children safe and ensure that the business owners do not suffer any more losses.
The Osun state government enjoined the people in the state to cooperate with the government by staying safe, “so that the people do not suffer more physical, financial and psychological damages.”
The State Government however assured the people that the curfew would be lifted as soon as the collective safety was guaranteed.
