The Chairman, Isokan South Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikoyi, State of Osun, Hon. Prince Wasiu Oyetunji Oyelami has condemned the attack on Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s convoy on Saturday evening by suspected political thugs who hijacked the peaceful protest by youths against Police brutality in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
This was contained in a statement made available by the Chairman to newsmen in Osogbo on Sunday.
Prince Oyelami described the attack on the Governor as barbaric, saying he was highly disappointed that such a peaceful protest by youth against police brutality in the country could be hijacked by political thugs.
The Isokan LCDA boss appealed to the protesters to exercise caution in the course of the protest, saying “Mr Governor is a complete peaceful and understanding man who knows that peaceful protest and association is a fundamental right of every citizen while he understands the plight of the protesting youths.”
Prince Oyelami, in the statement, called on the security agencies to urgently hunt down the people that carried out the barbaric act during the peaceful protest and bring the affected persons to justice immediately.
“The Governor feels and understands the plight of the protesting youths against police brutality across the country and that’s why he identified with them, went into their midst to address them, but it is unfortunate that some callous individuals went ahead to organise political thugs to attack the Governor’s convoy” the statement concluded.
