Emotions run deep as funeral gets underway for Owo Cathedral massacre victims

Funeral mass for the victims of the terror attack on worshippers at Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State has commenced, according to reports reaching THE CONCLAVE from Owo.

Yet-to-be-identified terrorists had attacked the Church on June 5, 2022 during service to bomb, kill and maim, leaving in their trail 40 dead and 67 seriously injured congregants.

The funeral mass for the deceased began at 10:00 am after the caskets bearing the bodies of the deceased were brought in.

The venue of the mass, Mydas Resort, Owo, was filled to capacity with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in attendance with other personalities.

The mass took off following the procession into the hall by Catholic priests.

The solemn event came on the heels of a shut-in of residents of Owo on the orders of the Olowo of Owo to enable the town embark on traditional ritual to apprehend the perpetrators of the dastard act and prayers for the land that has been watered by the blood of the innocent.

THE CONCLAVE learnt that residents stayed indoors all the whole of Thursday, June 16, 2022. No one went to work and schools were shut.
