The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun State Sector Command, has warned motorists to desist from driving under the influence of intoxicating substances like drugs and alcohol to avoid crashes during the “ember” months.
The Sector Commander in the state, Corps Commander Ibrahim Kudirat Abidemi, gave the warning while fielding questions from journalists in her office.
Corps Commander Ibrahim, who informed of the series of activities put in place by the Osun Sector Command to guide motorists during the period, advised motorists to have valid driving licences and ensure that their vehicles are in good order before putting them on the roads.
According to CC Ibrahim, part of the activities put in place by the Osun State Sector Command to ensure adequate safety on the roads during the “ember” months includes, synergy with stakeholders, interventions, aggressive public enlightenment, intensified patrol operations, consistent media campaign, traffic control, motor park rallies, and increased regular and Special Marshals’ presence.
Other included prompt rescue operations, “ember” months flagg-off campaign to create awareness to the general public and cleaning of obstructions with the use of tow truck while all the personnel had been educated and well prepared for the activities slated gir the period.
The FRSC Osun Sector Commander urged motorists to ensure that they had functioning wipers, rear light, good brake light and tyres to avoid mishaps.
CC Ibrahim also implored drivers to refrain from over-speeding that could lead to unnecessary loss of lives while urging motorists against flouting traffic rules and regulations to avoid being apprehended by the FRSC.
