Embassy, Consulates sound the alarm on existence of fake website for Nigerian passport

The Nigerian Embassy and Consulates in the United States of America (USA), have sounded the alarm on the existence of a fake and fraudulent website purporting to operate to process passports.

The Embassy in Washington and Consulates in New York and Atlanta have, therefore, distanced themselves from the operations of the fake website, www.nigerianpassports.com, which is claiming to be a platform for processing Nigerian International Passports.

The Embassy and Consulates sternly warned in a statement that the website, which is directing “passport applicants to make payments through Zelle using Tel no. 770-510-9332 ….  is fake and set up to defraud applicants for Nigerian passport.”

The statement said further that “while the Embassy and Consulates liaise with local authorities and the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters in Abuja to investigate this fraudulent website, the general public is reminded that the global website for applications for Nigerian passport remains portal.immigration.gov.ng.”

“Applicants outside Nigeria are to apply through the official websites of the respective Embassies/Consulates where they intend to process their passports,” the statement further counseled (Edited report by Global Patriot reporr)
