A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced an 18-year-old electrician, Aminu Sabo, to one year in prison for trespassing and stealing phone.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos, in her judgement, gave the convict an option of fine of N20, 000 or spend six months in prison.
She also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N80, 000 to the complainant or spend another six months in default.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo-Jos Police Station on April 11, 2025 by one Mohammed Dahir, the complainant.
Thiawur said that the convict went to the complainant’s house and stole his wife’s phone valued at N70, 000.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
