By Richard Akintade, Osogbo
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo has described as baseless and defamatory, the allegations levelled against him by his deputy, Elder Sunday Akanfe Olatunde Atidade who accused him of being used by the ruling party in the State.
Hon. Adagunodo, who stated this in a press statement in Osogbo, said he respected and loved Elder Atidade, whom he described as a father figure among members of the State Working Committee.
He vouched for Elder Atidade that he would never make the kind of utterances ascribed to him because he knew how much he, (Adagunodo) detested disloyalty and moles and that he (Adagunodo) would always oppose the ruling party.
Hon. Adagunodo advised those he described as “inordinately ambitious media boys who write and just insert his name into all documents” to remember that they are doing more damage to the image of the party.
According to him, “This is because the office of the Deputy State Chairman is a policy-making office just like that of the State Chairman and any statement attached to that office must carry with it truth, honesty and credibility.”
Adagunodo said “for Elder Atidade to be attacking his Chairman on trumped-up allegations is unfortunate, diversionary, disappointing, unethical and degrading of the office of the accuser and the accused because Elder Atidade knows that I, Olasoji Adagunodo, will come out boldly and make public anything I want to do.
“I have never left PDP since 1998 and I don’t intend to do so. If there is any reason to do that, it will be an open declaration that will be publicized.”
The PDP boss added that Elder Atidade should remember that he and his group were the ones that had been going and coming and junketing between PDP and other political parties in the past and they were the ones still maintaining relationship with the ruling party that had continuously been sponsoring them on both political and business lines.
Adagunodo said he was not ready to trade words with anybody, including Elder Atidade because the more they argued with each other the wider the gully of division in the party would become.
According to him, “This will not do the party any good.”
Adagunodo, however, appealed to the public to disregard the spurious allegations because they were baseless and without any proof.
He challenged anybody, anywhere with proof of any relationship with the ruling APCor its Government at any level to bring it out or else they should forever keep quiet.
