Two foremost confidants of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, have teamed up with Chief Segun Oni, ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries preparatory to the 2022 election in Ekiti State.
The development has further reinforced and strengthened the political structure of the former governor whose support base in Ekiti is considered as most formidable yet in the PDP to upend the succession plan of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Oni has the advantage of association, name recognition and popular validation across shades of significant opinions especially those of socio-cultural and political groups.
Kayode Oso, an ally of Fayose, who served as his Chief of Staff and twice as Works Commissioner, and his Personal Assistant, Goke Olatunji, have both joined forces with Oni, a former governor of the state, to strengthen his chances at the PDP primaries.
Aside pitching his tent with the former governor, Oso has also donated a beautiful edifice in Ado Ekiti to the Segun Oni’s PDP Family campaign group.
This has brought the number of Offices donated to the Oni Campaign to four; three in the state capital and one in Ijero Ekiti.
Yemi Arokodare, Director-General, Senior Management Team of the PDP Family said in riposte that “Segun Oni is more than a movement in the PDP.”
