Over the weekend, several communities in both Ekiti and Ondo states celebrated the inauguration of important infrastructure projects by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs).
In Ilawe Ekiti, a hospital was commissioned, while a Civic Centre in Ile-Oluji, Okeigbo LGA, and an Innovation Hub in Igbara Oke, Ifedore LGA, both in Ondo State, were also inaugurated.
These projects underscored the Federal Government’s dedication to inclusive growth, healthcare, social harmony, and overall development, as emphasized by Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, during the inauguration ceremony.
Princess Orelope-Adefulire highlighted the commitment of her office and the UN implementing partners, including UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, and ILO, to establish at least one innovation hub per geopolitical zone.
She expressed her satisfaction that the timely establishment of the Igbara-Oke Innovation Hub fulfilled this promise for the Ogun State community.
Additionally, the OSSAP-SDGs completed the construction of the Departmental Building, Lecture Rooms, and External Works at Igbara-Oke Higher Institution Complex, further contributing to educational development and socioeconomic progress in the area.
The state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, represented by his Special Adviser on Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Olubunmi Ademosun, lauded this intervention as a significant step forward.
During the inauguration of the Igbara-Oke projects, HRM Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, the Olowa and Paramount Ruler of Igbara-Oke Kingdom, expressed gratitude to the Office for illuminating the path towards Igbara-Oke’s development and greatness.
He declared that this day would forever be remembered in their land’s history.
In Ilawe-Ekiti, Princess Orelope-Adefulire also commissioned the Saint Theresa Catholic Hospital, a project facilitated by renowned civil rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, who hails from the community.
Falana expressed his happiness and commended the OSSAP-SDGs for responding to the aspirations of his people, who deeply appreciated the project’s significance.
The monarch of Ilawe-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba Adebanji Ajibade-Alabi (Afuntande 1), described the hospital as a special gift to the people.
He emphasized that the facility would address the healthcare challenges faced by the community and expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its support in providing credible healthcare infrastructure.
Oba Ajibade-Alabi concluded by expressing his utmost gratitude for the development and for President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership in prioritizing the well-being of the people.
