Ekiti guber poll: Sorting, counting of votes ongoing, as INEC declares social media results fake

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced sorting and counting of ballots at the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State.

INEC also urged Nigerians to disregard election results being published in the social media, describing the results as fake.

Ekiti has a total of 988,923 registered voters.

The election is coming in from 2,445 polling units across 177 registration areas in 16 local government areas of the state.

Sixteen political parties are represented in the contest for the next governor of the state when incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi completes his second term in office later in October.
