Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has felicitated Muslim brothers and sisters around the world on the occasion of Eid el Kabir.
Oshiomhole said the essence of the celebration was a divine call on all Muslims and Christians alike to have a deep reflection on the significance of the Almighty Allah accepting the sacrifice of prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) as an act of worship.
He said, “Eid El-Adha is a time to reassess our values and commitment to the dictates of our faiths. It is an opportunity to make critical changes in our values and honest acceptance of the will of God as the ultimate source of contentment and happiness for us as human beings.”
According to him, “the challenges of modern society have led most of us to fall short of expectations as genuine people of faith.”
Oshiomhole said, “With each new generation, we have become less and less our brothers’ keepers. The gap between the affluent and the poor is getting wider by the day, and man’s inhumanity to man has never been so amplified as in our present-day society.
“This season therefore gives us a chance to rededicate ourselves to a greater acceptance of the Eid-el-Kabir’s lessons of piety, faithfulness, dedication, fortitude, obedience, sacrifice and selfless service for the benefit of mankind.”
The former Edo Governor said, “As we celebrate, may Almighty Allah open the doors of reconciliation, happiness, and prosperity for us all. May He accept our prayers and sacrifices as an act of worship.
“May the blessings, guidance, and protection of God be with our families today and always.
