Egbin Power restores 433MW to national grid after maintenance

Egbin Power Plc has resumed generation and is now supplying 433 megawatts to the national grid following the completion of maintenance on its cooling system.

Head of Corporate Communications Felix Ofulue said operations have stabilized and available units are running optimally as of Wednesday morning. He said the maintenance was carried out to improve efficiency and sustain reliable output.

“Operations have resumed and the units are working optimally. As of Wednesday morning, the plant was generating 433 megawatts to the national grid,” Ofulue stated.

Engineers and technical staff completed work on the cooling infrastructure, allowing for a gradual restart of the plant’s units. Ofulue reiterated the company’s commitment to safety, efficiency and improved generation capacity.

Industry stakeholders said the restored output would help strengthen electricity supply and support efforts to stabilize the grid.

Located in Ikorodu, Lagos, Egbin has an installed capacity of 1,320MW across six units of 220MW each. It remains Nigeria’s largest thermal power plant and a major contributor to national electricity supply.
