The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, September 18, 2025, re-arraigned former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr. Olu Agunloye, before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal High Court in Apo, Abuja.

Agunloye was docked on an amended seven-count charge bordering on official corruption and the fraudulent award of the $6 billion Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project contract.

One of the counts alleged that, while serving as Minister in May 2003, Agunloye disobeyed a presidential directive by approving a letter to Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited, conveying government approval for the 3,960MW Mambilla project.

Another count accused him of conspiring with Leno Adesanya of Sunrise Power (currently at large) to use a false document to mislead the Federal Government into entering the contract.
