The Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended two Chinese brothers, Wang Jiang and Wang Richard, along with two Nigerian nationals, Donatus Agupusi and Michael Benneth Agu, for allegedly attempting to export solid minerals without the required permit.

Jiang was detained at Enugu’s Akanu Ibiam International Airport after Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) agents flagged his luggage, which contained suspicious stones identified as solid minerals.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Richard, Agupusi, and Agu at the EFCC’s Enugu office.

Initial findings indicate that Agupusi, owner of Great Wall Construction Limited, employed all suspects, with Jiang allegedly planning to transport the minerals to China for testing.

Authorities confirmed that none of the suspects possessed the necessary permits for export.
