Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Anambra East/West Constituency, Tony Nwoye.
Nwoye was reportedly arrested for the embezzlement of funds awarded for roads construction by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The former lawmaker indicted four members of the National Assembly from Southeast zone.
Member representing Nnewi North/South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Chris Emeka Azubogu, Senator Chukwuka Utazi of the Enugu West Senatorial District, Kingsley Uni Chima representing Oguta/Ohaji/Egbema/Oru West Federal Constituency and Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu were all mentioned as accomplices in Nwoye’s alleged corruption.
EFCC has invited the members of the National Assembly to appear at its office on Thursday.
Nwoye vied for the governorship of Anambra State in 2013 on the PDP platform and was the governorship candidate of his current party, the APC, four years later.
