EFCC arrests 39 alleged internet fraudsters in Benin City

The Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a successful operation on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, resulting in the arrest of 39 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud within Benin City.
The arrests were made based on actionable intelligence indicating the suspects’ involvement in computer-related fraudulent activities. Operatives of the EFCC apprehended the individuals at various locations across the city.
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered several items, including eight luxury vehicles comprising two Mercedes-Benz GLK 350s, two Mercedes-Benz C300s, two Lexus RX350s, a Toyota Camry, and a Lexus ES350. Additionally, laptops and mobile phones were seized from the suspects.
Upon completion of investigations, the apprehended individuals will be charged to court to face legal proceedings. The EFCC remains committed to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators face the full weight of the law.
