Education, healthcare, and infrastructure have received major funding boosts in the 2026 budget as President Bola Tinubu declared his administration’s readiness to strengthen human capital and drive inclusive growth.

Tinubu, while presenting a N58.18 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025, announced that the proposed budget allocates N3.52 trillion to education, N2.48 trillion to health, and N3.56 trillion to infrastructure.

He said more than 418,000 students have already benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, with participation from 229 tertiary institutions nationwide, adding that the scheme will be expanded.

On healthcare, the president disclosed that health spending accounts for six per cent of the total budget size, excluding liabilities.
