Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has secured the backing of APC leaders in Edo South Senatorial District ahead of the party’s governorship primary poll.

Under the Edo South APC Stakeholders Forum, leaders from the district’s seven local government areas said they unanimously endorsed Ize-Iyamu after consultations across the zone.

They cited his experience, broad acceptability and capacity to unite the party ahead of the election.

“Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has served Edo State with consistency and understands the political and development needs of Edo South. His track record speaks for itself,” the forum said in a statement issued Tuesday in Benin City.

The stakeholders described the former governorship candidate as one of the few aspirants who could attract support beyond APC ranks, warning that the district could not afford internal divisions ahead of the governorship contest.

They also pointed to his background as a pastor and community leader as a mark of stability and moral leadership.

“This is not about individual interest, but about putting forward the candidate with the best chance to secure victory for APC and deliver progress for our people,” the statement said.

The forum called on delegates across Edo South to align with the endorsement and vowed to mobilise support for Ize-Iyamu at both the primary and the general election.

Signatories included former Reps members Hon. Samson Osagie and Hon. Isaac Osahon; Chief Matthew Ehigie, chairman of the Orhionmwon Elders Forum; former Edo Assembly member Hon. Patrick Osayiamen; retired CP Nosa Ojo; and APC leaders from Egor, Ovia South West, Oredo and Uhunmwode.
