[Press Release] The attention of the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to the latest propaganda being peddled by the Edo State PDP, in their predictable and desperate attempt to malign our party and Edo State Governo, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo.
First, let it be categorically stated that neither the APC in Edo State nor Governor Okpebholo authorised or sponsored any billboard campaigns in respect of the 2027 presidential election. The baseless claim by the PDP, hiding behind the Presidency’s general advisory, is not only mischievous but a laughable effort to deflect attention from their own failures in Edo State.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Presidency’s statement was a general caution to all political actors across the country, and nowhere did it name Senator Okpebholo or the Edo APC. It is, therefore, the height of political illiteracy and opportunism for the Edo PDP to hastily latch onto this to smear our party.
What is glaring is that the Edo PDP, bereft of ideas and weighed down by their chronic underperformance in governance, is clutching at straws, seeing shadows where none exist.
This is the same PDP that has flooded Edo with billboards and banners celebrating phantom achievements while the state decays under their watch.
Governor Okpebholo remains focused on rescuing Edo State from the stranglehold of the PDP’s maladministration. No amount of twisted narratives or media gimmicks will distract him or the APC from this mission.
We advise the PDP to first clear the mess they have made of governance in Edo before casting aspersions on those committed to genuine progress. The good people of Edo State are politically sophisticated and can see through the PDP’s smoke and mirrors.
Finally, let it be on record that the APC in Edo remains law-abiding and committed to the principles of democratic engagement. We will not be drawn into the PDP’s theatre of absurdities.
Signed:
Barr. Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie
State Publicity Secretary, Edo State APC
