The Edo State Chapter of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced the State Working Committee and State Executive, from petition against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem.
In a letter to the State Commissioner of Police, the State Secretary of the Party, Hillary Otsu, said INEC and the REC, Dr Sinikiem were properly and duly communicated to, by the State Secretary, as enshrined in Section 5 (36) b of the PDP Constitution 2017, as amended.
Furthermore, INEC/Dr. Sinikiem carried out their constitutional duties excellently.
Otsu said the State Executive did not at any time or at any meeting, recommend a petition to be brought against INEC and Dr Alalibo Sinikiem.
He said the petition should be dismissed and disregarded as it lacked merit.
“It has all the trappings of a sponsored petition emanating from political vendetta and selfish interest,” it said.
