Edo State Caretaker Committee said that the Edo Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal verdict was a travesty of justice.
The three-member tribunal last Wednesday affirmed Monday Okpebholo as the win wt of the February 21, 2024 governorship election.
The Edo PDP Caretaker Committee in a meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025, urged members not to allow the verdict to dampen them.
The ommunique of the Edo State Caretaker Committee Meeting held April 7, 2025 reads in extenso:
“The Edo State chapter of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Caretaker Committee led by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi met on April 7, 2025.
“1.It discussed the outcome of the governorship election petition tribunal and carefully analysed the judgment.
“2.It agreed that the judgement of the election petition tribunal was a travesty of justice and therefore endorsed the decision of its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, to appeal the obnoxious judgment.
“3.It called on PDP members and the people of Edo State to remain resolute and not allow the verdict of the Election Tribunal to dampen their confidence in the institution of the Judiciary and democracy in Nigeria.”
