Edo Gov Primary: APC sacks Uzodimma, appoints Otu as Electoral Committee Chair

All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River state, as the chairman of its party’s governorship primary election committee in Edo state.

Otu’s appointment came on the heels of the removal of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as the chairman of the panel of the controversies thar greeted last Saturday’s primary election.

Uzodimma had declared Dennis Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, winner of the exercise.

A senator representing Edo Central and governorship aspirant, Monday Okpebholo, claimed that he won the election with over 12,000 votes.

He was declared winner by the State Returning Officer, Dr Stanley Ugboajah.

However, the spokesperson of the returning officers, Ojo Babatunde, said a lawmaker representing the Etsako federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Sunday Dekeri, polled 25,384 votes to defeat Idahosa.

In a notice on Wednesday, APC national organising secretary, Suleiman Argungu, said Rabiu Suleiman would serve as the secretary of the primary election committee.

Shettima Shehu, Titilayo Laoye-Tomori, Nentanwe Yilwatde Goshwe, Umar Hassan, and Lawan Garba will serve as members of the committee.

Argungu named C. C Udenwa as chair of the appeals committee.

Muhammad Sarina, Udogu Anthony Chijoke, Muhammad Ali, and Yunusa Mohammed will serve as members of the appeals committee.
