Hon Zibiri Mohammed is a member of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who has endeared himself to the party leaders and members.
Mohammed’s contemporaries and associates describe him as the man who the cap fits. He is a loyal, dedicated, and dependable ally in the APC.
He is one of the aspirants jostling for the APC chairmanship tickets in the local government election scheduled to be held in Edo State early next year.
Among the aspirants who have indicated interest in contesting the chairmanship position in Etsako West Local Area, Hon Zibiri Mohammed has carved a niche for himself, which gives him a clear advantage over other aspirants in the local government area.
Mohammed, whom party members and leaders describe as active, made known his intention to contest the chairmanship position at a meeting of the APC leaders and stakeholders held in Constituency 2 of Etsako West local government area recently.
According to party chieftains, Mohammed has vast experience, particularly in local government administration in the state.
Zibiri Mohammed is known to have occupied several positions in Etsako West local government council, a situation that gives him an edge over other aspirants that have indicated their interests in the race.
For instance, in 2003, Mohammed was appointed as Etsako West legislative leader, otherwise known as speaker, a position he held for about six months before he contested election into the Council as a Councilor and won convincingly.
He became the substantive leader of the legislative council, thereby becoming a two time Speaker of Etsako West legislative council.
He was also appointed as Supervisory Council of Education in 2008, a position he served meritoriously that endears him to leaders and party faithfuls.
Again, his loyalty, hard work, and creativity earned him a reappointment for the same position in 2018 as a supervisory councillor for education to help address the teething challenges in primary education in the local government area.
Still, in the local government council, he was also appointed in 2019 as Secretary to Etsako West local government council, where he became very pivotal and strong force in the day to day running of the Council.
Apart from holding several positions in the local government council, Mohammed also served as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor during the two terms reign of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as Governor of Edo State.
Without doubt, Zibiri Mohammed is counting on experience and hopes strongly on clinching the chairmanship ticket on a favourable judgement of APC leaders and stakeholders in Etsako West local government area, considering his wealth of experience in local government administration.
Zibiri Mohammed is a political strategist, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and he holds a masters degree from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma. He is an associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
