A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Barrister Omosede Igbinedion has been endorsed by the All Progressives Congress [APC] in Edo State, as its sole candidate in the bye-election in Ovia Federal Constituency to fill the vacant seat created by the election of Hon Dennis Idahosa as the state’s deputy governor.
Igbinedion represented the federal Constituency from 2015 to 2019 on the PDP platform.

She was defeated in 2019 by Dennis Idahosa.
Omosede played smart politics when, prior to the Edo governorship election in 2025, she dumped the PDP to join the APC.
She vigorously campaigned for the Monday Okpebholo/Dennis Idahosa governorship ticket.
She calculated that she would clinch the ticket to replace Idahosa anyhow, whether he emerged as governor or deputy governor. The seat in the House of Representatives would become vacant eventually.
THE CONCLAVE reports that she did not relax on that calculation as she embarked on ambitious politicking and strategic moves to win the battle for the ticket without firing a shot.

The outcome of her quiet, underground moves is her endorsement as the sole candidate in the bye-election for Ovia Federal Constituency that will be held shortly.
