One of All Progressives Congress [APC] aspirants for thr party ticket for the 2024 governorship election, Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, has faulted a report doibg the rounds that he had withdrawn from the race, fof ghd ticket.
Umakhihe said his solidarity message was erroneously misinterpreted.
His response came amid the confusion occasioned by the outright twist of the message he sent out earlier today.
Reacting in a statement entitled: “Rebuttal on Withdrawal from the Governorship Race,” Umakhihe, who is one of the last six aspirants that have been cleared by the party to commence campaign and contest the primary election, said: “I refer to an earlier text message I sent to friends and fans of the EAU movement which has been misrepresented in the social media.
“I hereby wish to state that after clarifications from the leadership of the party, I remain in the race, in line with the policy of no zoning.
“I have only put on hold my tour of the Local Government Areas, which will take place in due course.
“To this end, I enjoin all to continue the mobilisation for vote and nomination of Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe PhD, OON as APC flag bearer [sic] in the forthcoming 2024 Governorship elections.”
