The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said its screening committee for the Edo governorship primary would resume tosay, Friday, 20 June.
The committee last sat on June 5.
The reconvening of the Committee was promoted by the need to screen and accommodate Governor Godwin Obaseki who just joined the party.
Obaseki’s movement was consequent upon his disqualification by his former party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) over discrepancies in his educational certificates and other credentials.
He formally joined the PDP in Benin on Friday, after the All Progressives Congress disqualified him over his certificate.
Obaseki had obtained the membership card of the PDP at a carnival-like reception by the party in Benin City.
He was expected in Abuja today, Ftiday, for screening.
In order to accommodate him, the PDP decided to shift its primary election from June 23 to June 25.
Col. Austin Akobundu (retd.), the PDP National Organising Secretary, said the screening would continue at the NWC Hall, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, from 10a.m. prompt.
“The committee is mandated to screen all aspirants for the upcoming 2020 governorship election in Edo,” Akobundu said.
