Residents of Okhuo community in Uhumwonde Local Government have vowed to ensure the emergence of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress as the next Governor of the state.
This was as the APC candidate carried out the grading of the Okhuo road to provide relief to the people and ensure easy commute.
The road, serving as the link between several communities in Uhumwonde LG, has long been a pain point for the people, and all appeals to the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, to fix the road has met deaf ears.
Speaking through his representatives at the flag-off of the graded road, Hon. Washington Osifo, member representing Uhumwonde Local Government in the Edo Assembly, and Hon. Kehinde Garrick, , Ize-Iyamu said the grading of the road, even as a private citizen, is a sign of what is to come if elected as the Governor of the state.
He said infrastructure development is central to his plans to raise the standard of living in the state and attract investments, assuring that it would be a top priority of his government.
He lamented the neglect of Uhumwonde by the incumbent Governor and the lack of good roads in the Local Government, a factor he says has negatively impacted the local economy, especially agriculture, because farmers find it difficult to send their harvest to markets.
Ms. Ngozi Chinwendu, the Unit Secretary for women of the All Progressives Congress, said in her over two decades of residing in Okhuo community, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is the first individual to bring a grade into the community and fix the abandoned road.
She thanked the APC candidate for remembering the community, while promising that the people will repay his kind gesture and contribution with massive votes at the polls.
The Unit Chairman of the APC, Christopher Omeka, also thanked Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and assured him of a clean sweep of the community, and Edo State, on Election Day.
Also expressing their gratitude, other community members condemned the Obaseki-administration for abandoning the Local Government and pleaded with Pastor Ize-Iyamu to address their other needs, including lack of potable water, schools, electricity, and markets when he emerges as the Governor.
