Easter: NSCDC deploys 1,780 personnel for peace, security in Benue

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue Command, has deployed 1780 personnel across the state to enhance security during and after the Easter celebration.

The deployment was made known in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Michael Ejelikwu, and made available to newsmen in Makurdi.

Ejelikwu said that the deployment was part of a conscious and proactive steps at providing a peaceful and hitch-free Easter celebration in Benue.

The PRO stated that the State NSCDC Commandant, Mrs Alice Bitrus, has directed the deployment of the 1,780 personnel across the 23 local government areas.

“The commandant urged heads of departments, area commanders and divisional officers, as well as heads of specialised tactical units, to immediately provide security and 24 -hour surveillance over critical and national infrastructures within their various areas of responsibilities during and after the celebration.

“She, particularly, directed the personnel in the operations unit to co-ordinate and report the deployment schedule for performance assessment and appraisal.

“She enjoined the concerned officers to be proactive, professional and committed to ensuring the safety of all important national assignments, warning that no act of misconduct would be overlooked.

“She appealed to the residents to continue to cooperate with security agencies and remain vigilant by reporting suspicious activities to security agencies,” he quoted the commander as saying.

According to him, the commandant seriously warned criminal elements to stay away from Benue.

The commandant wished all Christians a joyous and peaceful Easter celebration.
