The Borno State gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019, Idriss Mamman Durkwa, has said that changing the political landscape of the state still remains his major reason for contesting in the last election, revealing his ambition to still contest an elective position in the 2023 general election.
Durkwa made the declaration in Maiduguri while briefing journalists on his next political move.
He said: “I am already a farmer and politician in the state. So my ambition to contest elective position is still far from over,” revealing that he would contest to become part of the leadership in the state’s economic development and growth.
He said: “If you look back our people have been left behind. We actually want to come out and serve the people with dignity and determination to improve their living conditions.”
He noted that besides the successful party congress affirming the 36-member State Executives, the next most important election is the 2023 general election; which he said is not too far away.
Durkwa while given a clue that he may not be contesting the Borno governorship come 2023, said Governor Babagana Zulum deserves another four years term in office; so as to serve the people with development projects and programmes.
He said in Hawul Council, where he comes from 38 electric and water supplies, health and education projects were completed in two years under Zulum administration, leaving with no other choice but to support him.
