DSS files charges against captured Ansaru commanders Abu Baraa and Mahmuda

The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed multiple charges against two high-ranking commanders of the Ansaru terrorist group, Abu Baraa and Mahmuda, who were recently captured by Nigerian security forces in a covert operation.

Ansaru, an arm of al-Qaeda in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) in Nigeria, aims to expel secular and foreign influences from Nigeria and establish a Salafi-Islamist state.

The DSS, according to sources, has expedited investigations to ensure speedy prosecution, emphasising professionalism, justice, and human rights protection.

The suspects, as learnt, are expected to be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja in the coming days.
