The Democratic Republic of Congo is battling a new Ebola outbreak that has killed 80 people, with health officials warning82 the Bundibugyo strain has no vaccine or specific treatment.
Health Minister Samuel-Roger Kamba said Saturday the strain has a “very high lethality rate” that can reach 50%. The death toll rose from 65 reported a day earlier.
Kamba told a press briefing in Kinshasa that the outbreak’s lethality makes containment urgent as authorities respond without a vaccine or targeted treatment for this strain.
