Panic swept through a clinic in Umuahia on Friday after Nollywood actress and 2027 Abia governorship hopeful Doris Ogala suddenly collapsed mid-consultation and had to be rushed to the Federal Medical Centre.
A video now spreading online captured the tense moment Ogala slumped while speaking with doctors. Within minutes, she was wheeled into FMC Umuahia for emergency care as staff scrambled to stabilise her.
Hours later, Ogala broke her silence from the hospital bed. In an Instagram post showing her in a wheelchair at the health facility, she wrote: “I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now.”
Despite still recovering, the actress-turned-politician was seen interacting with patients and medical staff, her voice steady but visibly weakened.
The collapse comes weeks after Ogala emerged as the African Action Congress, AAC, candidate to unseat incumbent Governor Alex Otti in 2027. Her campaign has been built on “prioritising the people, economic growth and job creation” — a message she has been pushing across Abia.
News of her hospitalisation sparked an outpouring of prayers online, with fans and supporters flooding her page with get-well messages. “Abia needs you strong, Mama,” one comment read.
For now, the governorship hopeful remains under observation at FMC Umuahia as doctors monitor her condition.
