A former presidential spokesperson, Dr Doyin Okupe, has protested the rude treatment meted out to him by the management of AIT while appearing as guest on the station’s Kaakaki programme.
Okupe, who recently announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race which he was getting set to declare interest in on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had open declared support for the presidential aspiration of Mr Peter Obi.
He insinuated that the disruption of the programme as at the point he was to speak on Peter Obi smacked of political intolerance.
The AIT emeritus Chairman, Dr Raymond Dokpesi is in charge of contact and mobilisation for the Atiku Abubakar camping team.
Okupe left his readers to deduce for themselves the deliberate act of disruption while he was trying to speak about his candidate- Peter Obi.
In his Facebook page on Monday, April 11, 2022, Okupe wrote: “This morning I was a guest on Kaakaki on AIT. I fielded various questions on several current issues including security.
“But to my utter disbelief and shock, while answering a question on Peter Obi’s presidential aspiration , I was rudely and abruptly cut off and the programme was suddenly replaced by a lengthy advertorial on why PDP should jettison the zoning arrangement and throw the race open to all zones.
“I am amazed that a TV station with the reputation of AIT would treat a guest this way. I do not expect this level of intolerance from a media house with the pedigree of AIT.
“We certainly live in interesting times.”
