Donald Trump has been forced to dismiss “fake news” on social media that he has not been well.

The US president, 79, said he was “very active” on Labour Day amid swirling speculation about his declining health.

On Tuesday, Mr Trump announced that the US Space Command headquarters would move from Colorado to Alabama.

During the press conference in the White House, Mr Trump was asked by a reporter about rumours that “he was dead” after not being seen in public for several days.

Mr Trump responded: “Well it’s fake news. It’s so fake… I knew they were saying, like: ‘Is he okay? How’s he feeling? What’s wrong?’

“I have heard, it’s sort of crazy. But last week I did numerous news conferences, all successful. They went very well like, this is going very well. And then I didn’t do any for two days, and they said there must be something wrong with him.”

In July, it was disclosed that Mr Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) — a medical condition characterised by blood pooling in the veins.

The announcement was made in response to photographs showing bruising on the back of Mr Trump’s hand, which had been covered with makeup.

Mr Trump previously addressed speculation about his health on his Truth Social. “NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE”, his post on Sunday read.

JD Vance, the vice-president, also attempted to assure the public about Mr Trump’s wellbeing, telling USA Today that the president was in “incredibly good health.” [The Standard]
