Former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has advised former Vice- president Atiku Abubakar to dismount his 2023 presidential bid.
Duke said Atiku’s ambition was against the principle of natural justice and fairness.
Duke, who was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2019 presidential election, said power should return to the south after President Muhammadu Buhari‘s eight-year tenure.
In a viral video posted on Twitter, the former governor said Atiku Abubakar had been vying for the presidency since 1993 and that it was time he rested.
Duke questioned how southerners would tell their children that after Buhari’s eight-year tenure, another northerner took over and the North ruled for 16 years in a row.
The former governor added that Southerners needed a sense of belonging during this period.
He asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the south.
