Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has reconciled a Channels Television reporter, Mr. Pius Angbo with his wife, Dr. Mrs. Ifeanyinwa Angbo.
A Twitter influencer, who tweets @DrOlufunmilayo, had on Sunday posted a video of Mrs. Angbo narrating her story.
Mrs. Angbo, who had a bloodied face, claimed that her husband beat her up for telling him not to “spend money on women.”
Channels Television, where Mr. Angbo works, said it would investigate the incident and take action. The TV station said it has zero tolerance for violence.
“Channels Television does not condone violence against women or anyone in general. The domestic violence matter reported against one of our reporters is being investigated and appropriate action will be taken,” it tweeted.
However, on Monday, Ortom met with the couple and reportedly counselled them to always settle their differences amicably and shun the temptation of engaging in violence.

He stated that as a young couple with great potentials, the husband being a versatile journalist and the wife a medical doctor, there was the need for them to foster a strong union to serve as models to others.
Reacting, Mr. Angbo said he had apologised to his wife over the assault, stressing that he also sought the forgiveness of the entire women folk and would make amends going forward.
On her part, Mrs. Angbo said she had accepted her husband’s apology and forgiven him, saying their children are still tender and they need prayers to grow stronger in love and nurture their kids to maturity.
She appreciated the governor for taking time out of his very tight schedule to make peace between them. She further described his intervention as fatherly and a demonstration of love for them.
Some Nigerians on Twitter have kicked against the reconciliation, calling for the punishment of the abusive husband.

Did they tell Governor Ortom that this man was beating his wife while she was pregnant, sitting on her stomach and trying to strangle her? Did they tell him he repeated it after her delivery? Did he think zobo poured on her face? How do you see all that & reconcile them? 🥴
