Elder statesman and former Minister of Information, Edwin Clark, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to disclose his health status to Nigerians.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja, Clark said that Buhari’s failure to transmit a letter to the top echelon of the National Assembly, failure to explain to Nigerians the “nature of his disease” since he has been jetting out for medical attention and failure to transmit power to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo made his trip illegal.
Buhari had jetted out of the country on Monday for a “routine medical check-up” in London, and is being expected back to the country in two weeks, according to the Presidential Spokesperson, Femi Adesina.
But Clark said the President had been using tax payers’ money for medical trips and should disclose to Nigerians the disease he was suffering from.
He said lack of transmission of power to then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan by President Umaru Musa Yar’adua triggered constitutional crisis which led to the adoption of a doctrine of necessity, insisting Buhari should not take Nigerians for granted.
