The National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) South-South Vice President, Comrade Clement Etiefa, has lauded Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for transformative reforms enhancing the welfare of local government workers.
Speaking at the inauguration of executives for the 32 Rural Development Authorities (RDAs) in Yenagoa, Etiefa praised the state’s leadership in the South-South region for timely salary, gratuity, and pension payments totaling billions of naira.
Etiefa described the appointment of RDA executives as a strategic step to bridge workers and political leadership, urging the new executives to foster peace and collaboration.
He also commended Bayelsa NULGE President, Comrade Singer ThankGod, for his dedication to workers’ welfare and encouraged sustained efforts.
At the event, ThankGod urged the RDA executives to prioritize worker welfare through dialogue, highlighting the state’s progress in promotions and payment of arrears under its labor-friendly policies.
He emphasized loyalty and proactive engagement with management to ensure workers benefit from government initiatives.
Comrade Oliver Solomon, speaking for the RDA chairmen, pledged commitment and a focus on resolving issues through dialogue.
