Developing Story: General Irefin dies from COVID-19

Major General Olu Irefin, General Officer Commanding, GOC, 6 Division and Land  Component Commander, Operation Delta Safe, Port Harcourt Barracks, has died of COVID-19.
Irefin tested positive for COVID-19 while participating in the ongoing Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference 2020.
Until his death, General Irefin was the 6th General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, since its creation on 7 November 2016.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sagir Musa had earlier on Thursday announced the cancellation of the Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference due to resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja in what appears to be a second wave of infection cycle.
He had also confirmed that an officer participating in the conference tested positive for COVID-19.
