Developing: Robbers attack commercial banks in Osun, kill one person

There was pandemonium in Iree, Osun State, on Thursday, when armed robbers, stormed two banks in the ancient community.

The robbers, who shot sporadically into the air to scare people away as they stormed the two banks, located not far from each other, were said to have arrived the location at 3.50pm.

Residents of the area said the robbers operated for about 15 minutes without any hitch, noting that gunshots were also heard while the gunmen were escaping through the Iree-Ada Road.

Their activity, it was gathered, left one person dead from stray bullet.

The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Yemisi Opalola.

According to her, “security operatives had been deployed in the scene of crime.”
