The newly-appointed Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Major-General Farouk Yahaya, on Friday, assumed command as Nigeria’s 22nd Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at the army headquarters in Abuja, the federal capital territory (FCT).
He paid his last respects to his former boss and predecessor, the late Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru.
Yahaya also visited the home of the former COAS where he condoled with members of the immediate family.
After signing the condolence register, the new COAS, in typical military fashion, stood at ease and saluted the photo of the late Attahiru placed at the entrance of the family home.
