Publisher and former presidential candidate, Chief Dele Momodu, has hit back at Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as “a bull in a china shop”.

Momodu’s reaction followed Wike’s outburst during an appearance on “Politics Today” on Channels Television.
In a statement on Thursday evening, Momodu accused Wike of going on a “full rampage” laced with “garrulosity” and “esoteric spirits” as he allegedly launched personal attacks on perceived political opponents.
The Ovation Magazine publisher suggested that Wike lacked the historical understanding of Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999 and accused him of recklessly disparaging those who paid the price for the country’s democratic gains.

“He is a bit too young to know and appreciate what it took to return Nigeria to Democracy in 1999,” Momodu said.
“Wike urgently needs someone to rescue him before he goes stark in the marketplace.
“The amount of spittle he wasted this night alone would conveniently float a canoe in Rivers State.”
Momodu also disclosed a history of camaraderie with Wike, claiming that after his controversial interview with IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu years ago—where Kanu criticized Wike—he granted Wike a right of reply and later received repeated invitations from the former Rivers governor to cover projects in Port Harcourt.
“He invited me regularly, first thing in the morning, for photo-ops, in order to boost his image,” Momodu stated.
“He started dressing better than when we met. He told me how he used to watch me roll with his boss, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. He was our boy then, but too much money has now turned him into a rude kid.”

In a particularly scathing part of the response, Momodu mocked Wike’s alleged reference to him having eaten his food: “As stupendously wealthy as he is, his crass food was not the type anyone would actually savor.
“Rather, I tooched him up like a beauty therapist and introduced him to exclusive champagnes and perfumes.”
The veteran journalist also announced that he had requested a right of reply from Channels TV to address Wike’s comments publicly and “show Nigerians, and President Bola Tinubu in particular, the type of loose cannon he has unleashed on hapless citizens in the name of politics.”
The clash between the two high-profile figures adds to growing political tension, as internal party battles and personal rivalries continue to shape national discourse ahead of the 2027 elections. [The Star]
