A 22-year-old man, Dayo Shonekan, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly invading a church to steal three bells worth N150,000.

Shonekan, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on charges bordering on stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor,ASP E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov.15, at the Celestial Church of Christ in Opeloyeru Senukoro, Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant entered into the church and stole three bells valued at N150,000, belonging to the Church.

He alleged that the defendant, however, ran out of luck, as he was caught by the church members and handed over to the police.

The offence contravenes the provisions of section 415 of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Kaduna court rejects bail for suspect facing multiple fraud trials

Fadairo ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government.

The court adjourned the case until Dec.9, for hearing.
