David Lyon emerges Bayelsa APC governorship candidate

David Lyon, the aspirant backed by former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, has emerged the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the November 16 Bayelsa State Governorship election in the state.

Chief Lyon polled a total of 42,138 votes to defeat five other aspirants in the party’s first direct primary election in the state where all registered party members were approved to vote.

Mrs. Desiye Nsirim polled 1,533, Chief Ebitimi Amgbare polled 633 votes and Senator Heineken Lokpobiri polled 571 votes.

Prof Ongoebi Etebu polled 564 while Prince Preye Aganaba 354 votes.

The Collation Officer Senator Emmanuel Ocheja, who announced the results with other national and state officers of the party said he was standing in for the Returning Officer and Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam, whom he said was unavoidably unavailable.
